Marla Brooks
Having lived in Hollywood all my life, I’ve got a strong connection to this
city. I began my writing career as a freelance entertainment writer, often
writing about Hollywood celebrities and other aspects of the entertainment
industry writing for numerous magazines along the way including Inside
Hollywood and Los Angeles Magazine. I am also
the author of three cookbooks. The Celebrity Cookbook and
Eat Like The Stars are entertainment-related and How To Cook Like a Jewish
Grandmother contains a few celebrity recipes as well. In 2005 I
wrote a reference book entitled The American Family On Television,
a book which traces how sitcom families have evolved as American society has
changed from the late 1940s to the beginning of the 21st century.
As for my ghost writing and interest in the paranormal, I’ve always known that
there was more to this world than meets the eye and find the notion of ghosts
and other things that go bump in the night quite fascinating. Back in elementary
school while all my friends were reading Nancy Drew and Dr. Seuss, I could
always be found scouring the adult occult section of the library for books on
ghosts and hauntings.
I’ve never lived in a house that wasn't haunted and after having had several
paranormal experiences of my own, it was great to finally have been given
the opportunity of not only being able to write a series of books about
ghosts and hauntings, but to also don my paranormal investigator hat and
check out haunted locations as well.
Currently, we (my partner Ken, our dog Kalli, cat Pipsqueak and bird Bentley)
share our tiny circa 1921 Hollywood home with quite a few lively spirits who
make their presence known every so often just to keep us on our toes.
